~“Whenever I fall, it’s there to hold me. No matter where I go, it finds me. That must mean something.
And that’s why I believe in the Universe.” – Me~
Before you skip this post, this piece isn’t about spirituality. It’s about my personal journey, why I believe in the Universe, and how it helped me find my center.
Spirituality is, perhaps, one of the least understood words. Often confused with religion, spirituality has little to do with God, and everything to do with one’s self. Over the years, it has become an integral part of my life. And here’s why.
For those of you who do not know, I’m an intuitive Tarot Card reader and Chakra healer. Tarot is a set of 78 cards that, when powered by intuition, provides guidance, clarity and preparedness to deal with the future. It guides you to your dreams while telling you where you could go with your current thought process. Unlike other branches of astrology, Tarot isn’t fatalistic, because you have complete control over your future through your thoughts and actions.
I bought my first set of cards in 2003, after I got fixated by a classmate’s cards. Life finds a way of showing you your true calling...this was mine, as I found out only years later.
“The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.”
~ Fabienne Fredrickson
To read the cards accurately, I had to develop my intuition (in fact, Tarot for me is 70% intuition and only 30% of what’s written in the cards). I did deep meditation for years to cultivate my intuition. But, till 2007, I read Tarot only for family and very close friends. It was only when I had to start a business as part of an entrepreneurship program in my college (SRCC), that I started reading for complete strangers. I set up a table at the annual college fest and read cards for Rs.10/question (Yes, that’s right!) The response was overwhelming — I earned Rs 3,000 in a few hours! This was just the start.
The fest was over, but people I’d never met kept coming to me with their problems, looking for guidance. The feeling of watching them leave calmer, with a smile and a sense of direction after a Tarot session was unparalleled. I took up Tarot professionally, and started a weekly column in a local student newspaper.
Around the same time, I read ‘The Secret’. The book left a deep impression on my mind. I was highly influenced and inspired by it. But still, I hadn’t quite grasped the importance of it in my life, yet.
At home for a year after college, I delved a little deeper into spirituality and the workings of the Universe. It was then that I unconsciously manifested an education abroad at one of the most prestigious universities in UK. Not only that, I manifested some amazing people and 3 Europe trips. It seemed that life gave me an even bigger chance to spread positivity during my time in UK. I feel blessed to have helped and guided my friends through the pressure of academics with the powers of Tarot and Law of Attraction, coupled with my intuition and positive thinking, during my time there.
On returning to India, I battled with unemployment, self-doubt and a sense of hopelessness. I was unable to find a job fit for my credentials for more than a year, while all my friends had and were settled by then. It was a blow to my self-esteem – I had always been an over-achiever at academics. Moreover, it was also a personally disturbing time for me – I was having troubles with my friends, I was gaining weight – things were bad in all senses of the word.
Once again, I turned to my savior – the Universe. I invested my time in learning Chakra healing, Reiki, EFT, the Sedona method and other forms of healing. I read over 100 inspirational books, listened to thousands of audios, and learnt numerous techniques. If not for spirituality, I’d have buckled under the stress of not finding a job. I evolved emotionally, and better-equipped to help people.
After about a year, I manifested the perfect job for myself – one relevant to my degree, with easy working hours, work life balance, and in a city of my choice. It was exactly what I wanted at the time. I also believe it happened at exactly the right time – only after I had learnt all I was meant to, spiritually. Plus, I had spent a year at home with my sisters – a time I may never get back. For a while after that, I lost touch with spirituality and became engrossed in my work and life in a new city. As always, after a year and a half, I found my way back to it. Or rather, it found me – it has an uncanny way of creeping back into my life, every time I go adrift.
Then, in 2015, I decided to take my healing powers to more people, and launched my Facebook page. It has an integrated online payment option that allows anyone to get readings done from anywhere in the world. You can read more about Tarot and schedule a reading at – http://imojo.in/SoulSpeak.
It is 2016, and I am more centered and grounded than ever before. Being centered has not only helped me find more balance in life, it has also made me rediscover and strengthen all my other passions – those I had lost touch with years back – sketching, writing, reading, cooking. I worry less about the future, find myself living in the moment, and am more at peace.
Each one of us has a true calling…Something that’s way bigger than money, power or fame. Something that enriches, excites, and inspires you at the same time. Something you’re meant to do in this lifetime.
I still don’t know what I am meant to do in life. Read Tarot cards? Write? Both? Who knows? All I know is that it sure doesn’t involve running Excel files and punching numbers. There’s more to life than that.
When I first encountered spirituality at 13, I had no idea how enriching and fulfilling my journey will be. I strongly believe I was meant to help people, in some way. And the Universe will lead me to it. All one has to do is Ask, Believe, and Let Go. And in the meanwhile? Be happy.
For now, I’m following my bliss – being happy in every way I can, doing things that make me happy, and manifesting my dreams. And I believe it will take me where I’m meant to. The right opportunities will come to me at the right time, and lead me to my calling. Maybe I’ve already found mine. Have you?
I believe in the Universe. Do you?
Try it out. You have nothing to lose.
And the ‘perfect life’ to gain.
